Specialist committees and working groups made up of experts appointed by the national delegations discuss and develop policy papers on a wide range of areas affecting the European legal profession.
EU Lawyers Committee
The committee focuses on regulation of lawyers and their mobility within Europe. The committee seeks to develop guidelines and recommendations that facilitate the free movement of lawyers, dealing with issues arising from the application of the Lawyers’ Directives, namely Directive 77/249 on provision of services, Directive 98/5 on establishment of lawyers and Directive 2005/36 as amended by Directive 2013/55 / EU on the recognition of professional qualifications. The committee also provides advice and expertise on possible EU initiatives likely to affect the practice of the legal profession in the European Union.
